In my recent obsession for tracks with cool percussion, I've come to love Cozy Cole. He had a long career playing with the likes of Cab Calloway, and I've found some cool singles under his own name on the small Brooklyn-based Love label. "Bad," the B-side of another of the excellent Topsy/Turvy series might be my favorite so far. Everything hits hard, has swagger, and could easily be the soundtrack for a street fight.
